Rad Reading-December

The book I read for December was Becoming Brianna by Terri Libenson. The book starts out with Brianna’s mom asking her to consider having a Bat Mitzvah, and even though she doesn’t want one, she agrees. As the book continues, Brianna is navigating the prosses of having a Bat Mitzvah and having friend troubles. She talks about her meeting the Rabbi and gives a lot of information about what it takes to have a Bat Mitzvah.

I liked the book because it is really intriguing, and I would recommend it to anyone. My favorite character in the book is Emmie because she seems like a good friend. She always hangs out with Brianna and always helps her.

My favorite line is “Well, you could do this old trick of picturing the audience in their underwear””They’re family and friends, Dev.” I liked this quote because I thought it was funny.

Emmie and Friends: Becoming Brianna by Terri Libenson

Rad Reading-November

My book for this month was The Selection. The author is Kiera Cass. This is a book about a girl named America, and in her life there is a caste system. This means that everyone is a one to an eight in the system. An eight is the worst, like prison and homeless. One is royalty. America is sixteen and is a five so her life is very hard, but not the worst ever. (The worst number you have, the worst jobs you can have.) She is in love with a boy name Aspen, who is a six. A letter in the mail comes, and she has to apply for a thing called the selection, and se gets chosen, she starts to fall in love with the prince, and he loves her, but she isn’t sure who she should choose. I really loved this book because it was very intriguing and you really know the characters, the author did an amazing job describing her feelings. My favorite character is America because she didn’t change or become more snobby when living in the castle. One of her character traits is thoughtfulness, “True love is usually the most inconvenient kind.” My favorite quote is “I can’t help it.” I sighed. “One can never help being born into perfection.” This is funny because it lets us know about her personality, and I now know that she is funny.

Dance Off

I just had lunch, and was swinging in the trees when I heard my monkey enemies bragging about how the leader monkey could dance better than everyone. I was about to prove him wrong. I swung down to the ground in record time. I land right beside the leader monkey. In no time, I called a dance off. Everyone gasped, because this had not happened in 17 years, because a banana was brutally crushed. My group quickly gathered in a half circle around me, and he group completed it. We shook hands, and it started. I let him go first, so I could size up how good of a dancer he was. He was good, but not good enough. He ended and high fived his teammates. It was my time to shine now. Everything seemed to move in slow motion. Everything was going amazing, until I tripped. In those 3 seconds I contemplated my life choices. I was about to hit the floor, but suddenly thought to roll. It was amazing. I was one hundred times better than the other monkey, and obviously won, and got all the bananas.

If I was a Principal for a Day

I would love to be principal for a day! If I was a principal for a day, we would have less homework, allow phones during pe, phones allowed at break and lunch, no miles, and less strict of a dress code. Home work is very stressful for most students, and for a better school environment, eliminating homework would be beneficial. My second decision would be letting students use there phone at break and lunch, because we should do what we want to do in our free time. My third decision would be that we should be allowed to listen to something on our phones while exercising to make pe more enjoyable. My fourth decision is that we don’t run the mile. I would make this rule because I hate everything about the mile, and I know other students would agree. My final decision would be having less strict of a dress code. Showing a little bit of stomach shouldn’t matter, and hats and beanies.

I’m Thankful

This thanksgiving I am very thankful for my family. My twin brother, Jack, always makes me laugh in any situation. My moms take care of me and love me. I love when I go to a museum with my nan, or help papa with a project. I love shop with my grandma, or eat at restaurants with her. I love my twin cousins, Amelia and Marissa, who even though they are sixteen, have tons of fun with me and my brother. There older brother, Ryan, is eighteen, and is in college. He is like brother, tall, red hair, and makes jokes at the perfect time. I miss him very much, but I love when he comes back. I love my Auntie Heather, she never share her food, but is very funny and nice. Uncle Ramon fixes things in our house we can’t sometimes, and is very nice and quiet. There’s my aunt Susan, my moms aunt, who makes really good cookies and is very sweet. I love when Uncle Phil plays chess with me, but he usually beats me. My mom’s cousins, Ali and Rachel, are very sweet. Rachel just had a baby and Ali is pregnant and I’m very excited. I’m next thankful my friends. I have known my best friend, Alyssa, since I was born. I am very thankful for my Girl Scout friends and school friends, especially the group I eat with. The last thing I’m thankful for is my pets. I have 4, 2 cats and 2 dogs. They are so cute and fluffy, and I am so thankful for them.

Invisible Emmie Rad Reading – Month October

I read the book, Invisible Emmie, by Terri Libenson.

Invisible Emmie is about a girl named Emmie. She is the youngest child of 3 children. Her siblings are in college and her parents work a lot. Her best friend Brianna sits with her at lunch. They play a game where they write ridiculous love notes to their crush. Emmie accidentally drops her note when walking to class. The class clown sees it and picks it up. She is really embarrassed when other people find out about it. In the end, she becomes more confident in herself and talks to people she doesn’t know. I loved this book because it was really funny to see what shy people think because I’m not shy. My favorite character was Emmie. The author really focuses most of the descriptions on her, and we don’t learn much about the other characters. Emmie’s character trait is that she is very self-conscious. Here is a quote that supports that though. “I guess being quiet, skinny, and flat has its advantages.”

EDUCATORS' GUIDE

My favorite quote is this: “Down. the hall, I see two boys having a conversation in front of their locker. Actually, it was less of a conversation and more of a primal-monkey noisefest. This is my favorite quote because it reminds me of my brother and his friends.

My Perfect Day

My perfect day would begin with me being fully rested, not tired at all. I’d wake up as the sun peeks into my window, shining on my perfectly organized room. I’d get my favorite breakfast brought to me in bed while I watch my favorite TV show. Then I’ll get up, and take a relaxing bubble bath. Once I am done, I will put on my favorite outfit. It would be snowy outside, and I’d grab my sled. I would go sledding with my friends. When we finally got tired, I’d go shopping with an unlimited gift card to buy my favorite things. For lunch, I would go to Disneyland to have tomato soup and grilled cheese. After lunch, I would go on rides with friends and eat snacks. For dinner, I would eat Home Ec mac and cheese because it was so delicious. Then I will go to my cozy, comfy bed to sleep for at least 14 hours.

The Wishes

A genie has granted me three wishes! My three wishes are to have a shopping spree at Disneyland, the most comfortable bed, and a self-organizing dream home. I would want a shopping spree at Disneyland because I love all the things in the stores. I would try and get a bunch of Lounge Fly bags and other brands that are there. Then, I’d look for food (like fudge), toys, and mickey ear headbands. A comfortable bed would have a bunch of stuffed animals, bamboo pillows, and a soft duvet. I want my mattress to be the perfect combo between firm and soft. It would also be self-warming or cooling depending on what temperature I want. My self-organizing home is important because I like things to be clean and organized but I am not good at doing it.

Life as a famous person

If I could trade places with a famous person for a day I would choose Pink. I would like to trade places with her because she seems to have a lot of fun singing and dancing. I went to her concert once and she flew across the audience. It seems like it would be really cool to be that strong. She is also very famous. I would love to experience being famous because it sounds like fun to be recognized by everyone. The last reason is that she is very rich. She works very hard to be that rich. It must be nice to able to do what you want.

Rad Reading-September

The book I chose for the month of September was the Percy Jackson book 5 by Rick Riordan. This book was amazing and I highly recommend it. The plot is about Kronos reforming in Luke’s body and the war against Olympus. To defeat him, Percy needs the gods, but they are busy fighting Typhon. I love this book because it doesn’t take too long for the action to start, and I can really imagine the story. My favorite character is Annabeth because she is smart and strong. One of her character traits is that she is smart. “But when Annabeth set it on the ground, the reflection on the polished metal changed from sky and buildings to the Statue of Liberty-which wasn’t anywhere close to us.” My favorite line from the book is, “ The music was awful-Neil Diamond or something. I should’ve made that part of my gift from the gods: better elevator tunes.” I like this line because it is funny.
